Halloween & COVID-19: Thrivest Link Legal Funding™ Safety Short

We’re here to give you a Thrivest Link Legal Funding™ Safety Short. Halloween 2020 is just one of many celebrations that have been impacted by the virus, but this holiday is one to proceed with extra caution.

Increased Risk of Personal Injury on Halloween

Due to higher pedestrian traffic, fatalities of children under 18 generally double on October 31st according to the National Safety Council. Additionally, due the to nature of trick-or-treating, there is an increase in personal injury claims related to premises liability accidents.

To reduce the risk of personal injury this Halloween, we recommend the following:

  • Make sure that your child’s costume fits properly, and that their eyes are unobstructed by any hats or masks.
  • Don’t forget a flashlight or glow stick to help increase visibility.
  • While driving, be on high alert especially in residential areas.

Increased Risk of COVID-19 Spread on Halloween

Furthermore, crowds of trick-or-treaters and gatherings increase the risk of the spread of COVID-19. Luckily, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published some great tips on how to keep your family safe and healthy this Halloween season.

In addition to the standard COVID-19 prevention protocols, we wanted to reiterate the following recommendations by the CDC:

  • Make your cloth mask part of your costume.
  • A costume mask is NOT a substitute for a cloth mask.
  • Do NOT wear a costume mask over a cloth mask. It can make breathing more difficult.
  • Masks should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing

Taking these recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control into consideration, in addition to exercising caution during your Halloween activities, can help decrease the risk of danger during Halloween 2020. You may even have a sweet time.
